Made This

>> 6.30.2010

So forgive me.  I've been hanging out in Asheville, NC & Greenville, SC the past couple of days.  But I did make a ring before we left and I wanted to show you!

I thought it was pretty cute!  I need to get on the ball and make some more so I can get my store going.

What do you think?

Just for you!

>> 6.25.2010

I've had these pictures and this post ready to go now for a day or so.  But I couldn't get it up because I had to clean (boo!).  Our landlords are showing the house and boy was it in shambles!  Anyway, it feels good to be clean now, but it didn't leave me any time for my projects!

So here's a project I did after I finished cleaning up my space.

This ring was for my housemate.  She asked me if I would make her a ring using the two buttons that she had.  So I did!  And it worked out great!  We were a little nervous because of the shape of the bottom button.  But it worked and she loved it!

I also wanted to thank everyone who has decided to follow me and for the sweet comments I have received!  It's so exciting to know people are actually interested in my blog and that it's worthy of reading and commenting on and even following!  So thank you!  I really enjoy reading all the comments and appreciate the support!

All better!

>> 6.23.2010

I think I finally realized why I was procrastinating so much with my projects this year.  I think I needed a clean space to really focus on creating.  So this afternoon I cleaned!  I actually even rearranged the room!  Anyone who knows me knows that I am not the tidiest person (just ask my sister, my husband, my housemates, anyone at work who sees my desk...).  So I had to reorganize and clean.  That took about 2 hours, but this is the end result!

All better!  Now I have a spot for my sewing machine and the box under the clock is filled with my button stuff!  So clean!  However, I must admit, after cleaning I sat down to work on some buttons and now there are buttons everywhere!  But I did fix my favorite ring!  I bought it at a festival in Memphis I guess two years ago.  It's sort of what inspired me to start my rings.  I really wish I could remember the name of the girl who made it because she has an Etsy shop.  It would be cool to show her some love right now.  Oh well...here's the awesome ring!

So now that I'm organized expect some serious projects coming up!

Test Run

>> 6.21.2010

So this weekend I thought that it would be an appropriate time to take one of my rings on a test run.  Since using the new glue I haven't actually wore one to see if it will hold up.  So I wore this ring (which is probably my favorite) all day on Friday & Saturday.

The ring did VERY well!  I even got a few compliments!  This makes me very excited!  So now once finding a new place to live doesn't consume my brain, I'm going to work hard on getting some rings made and put them up on Etsy.  I still have to finish the look of my shop on there, which unfortunately for me is a little harder than this blog.  But I'm sure once I sit down and work on it I can figure it out.  So what do you think?  The ring looks a little brown in the picture, but it's actually a really cute gray with a pale green fabric button on the top!  Super cute!

Buttons!

>> 6.12.2010

So in order to get started on my jewelry ventures I've been testing out some new glue to see which one works the best. Hopefully, at least one of them will hold well and I can get fully started on making my rings!

So first I tried this one...the E6000.  It's the one that all the crafters use, I guess.  Hopefully it's a good one!

Then I tried this one on a different ring.  It seem to be about the same quality.  I guess they might all turn out to be better than the super glue and the other bead craft glue I tried.  They both failed.

Here's a shot of my box-o-buttons.  This is where I keep all my stuff.  The box that says buttons on it was my grandmother's.  That's her handwriting.  I think she would be proud that I'm putting her buttons to good use.  The other jar is a jar of buttons I bought in Knoxville at a vintage store.  So all of my buttons are vintage!  I think that's pretty cool.

So I'm pretty excited to see if they work so I can get started!  I just need to have my creative spark happen.  I'm also worried about creating the shop on Etsy mostly because I don't know much about computer code to make it look all fancy.  I'm actually having the same nervousness about this blog!  But I'll figure it out I guess!

The hot mexican sun

So today I made cookies.  We're leaving probably tomorrow to go on our anniversary trip to NC.  So I decided to make some cookies for us to take on the road!  I've already tried one and had two taste testers (Josh & Katie) and they said they were yummy!

Here's the link to the recipe I followed.  Love Post Punk Kitchen and her cookbooks.  I really want the Vegan Brunch & Vegan Cookie book.
